Sea Life Art Prints

Sharks, whales, sea turtles, octopuses, seahorses and fish, painted in watercolor. Each one is a signed, numbered limited edition print of my original painting.

How I paint the sea

Water is the one subject watercolor paints almost by itself. I wet the sheet, drop in blues and greens and let them move, and the sea is there before the animal is. The great white shark and the octopus are among the most collected paintings in the shop. Divers tend to choose the freediver with the humpback whale or the whale shark. Anglers go for the blue marlin, the mahi mahi and the rainbow trout. There are also quieter pieces, like the blue sea turtle, the seahorse and the manatee, which tend to end up in bathrooms and beach houses.

Edition, paper and sizes

Every print in this collection is part of a numbered edition of 150, signed by hand. When an edition sells out it is not printed again. You choose between archival pigment inks on museum-quality cotton paper and a framed canvas in a black wooden frame, in 15 sizes from 20 × 26 cm to 100 × 140 cm. I print and check each one in my studio and ship it flat or in a hard tube. If you are new to editions, my guide to limited edition prints explains what the numbers mean.

The same paintings in other forms

Some of these works are still available as original watercolor paintings, one of a kind. The designs also exist as wearable art: sea life T-shirts, sea life mugs and sea life pillow covers.
