Horse Art Prints

Horses in watercolor: Arabian, Friesian, Haflinger, Thoroughbred, Percheron, plus a few blue ones and a unicorn. Signed, numbered limited edition prints.

How I paint the horses

Horse people look at anatomy first, so I do too. The head has to be right for the breed: the dished profile of an Arabian, the heavy jaw of a Percheron, the feathered fetlocks and long mane of a Friesian. Once the drawing is correct I can be free with the colour. Some of these horses are painted in natural bays and chestnuts. Others are blue or violet, because the mood of a horse is not always brown. The prints hang well in pairs, and many go to stables, studies and children's rooms.

Edition, paper and sizes

Every print in this collection is part of a numbered edition of 150, signed by hand. When an edition sells out it is not printed again. You choose between archival pigment inks on museum-quality cotton paper and a framed canvas in a black wooden frame, in 15 sizes from 20 × 26 cm to 100 × 140 cm. I print and check each one in my studio and ship it flat or in a hard tube. If you are new to editions, my guide to limited edition prints explains what the numbers mean.

The same paintings in other forms

Some of these works are still available as original watercolor paintings, one of a kind. The designs also exist as wearable art: horse T-shirts, horse mugs and horse pillow covers.
