A river otter standing up and looking over your head, the way they do when they have heard something. The head is painted in cobalt and turquoise, the throat and chest in cream and orange with the fur in dry white strokes, and the whole background is filled: yellow and orange on the right, deep indigo on the left. It is a portrait format and one of the few prints of mine with no white paper left around the animal. The otter print is my most reviewed one.
The original watercolor painting is listed separately: see the original river otter painting.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
