Asian Elephant Head Art Print, Signed Limited Edition Watercolor

An Asian elephant in profile, the small ear and the domed forehead that tell it from the African, with one tusk and the trunk curling down out of the picture. I painted the skin in violet, peach, lilac and gold laid wet into wet so the folds form on their own, with the eye drawn in a fine line and turquoise drips under the jaw. It is a portrait format. My other elephants are the African elephant, the blue elephant and the pink elephant.

Why it is a limited edition

Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
