Harbour seals surface and look at you with exactly this face: round black eyes, whiskers spread wide, nose up. I painted the head in blue, grey and ochre spots over a wet wash so the mottled coat forms on its own, with a rust patch on the crown and the body dripping away into turquoise. Nothing is outlined. It is the quiet companion to my sea otter and sea turtle prints.
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
The frame is not included unless the option says Framed Canvas. Not sure which size fits your wall? Write to me with the width of the furniture under it and I will suggest one. Reproduction rights remain with the artist.

Great painting! Now hanging on the wall of the apartment that we have for rent. Very appropriate because we live near the Wadden Sea. There live lots of seals!
