A grizzly head-on, filling the sheet, painted in the warm and cold colours of its coat at once: orange and rust over the face and shoulders, teal and deep blue in the shadows, and the whole chest running down in long drips. The muzzle is bare white paper with a dark nose, and the small eyes are level and calm. It is my most reviewed bear and the one people buy for cabins, lodges and living rooms with a lot of wood. The brown bear is the quieter, more naturalistic one.

Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.

The artwork is beautiful, of course- that’s why you’re buying it, right? As for the shirt itself, it is very comfortable and washes ok (it does wrinkle easily due to being cotton). The thickness is average, straps will probably show through the white parts but the printed area does provide good coverage if you choose to wear it without anything underneath. The colors of the print are cooler and more muted than the image, giving it a slightly faded appearance. I tuck the shirt into my pants because I think the way the drips are squarely cut off at the bottom looks awkward if worn untucked.
