A grey wolf facing you, painted in short bristly strokes of umber, ochre, grey and pale blue so the coat looks coarse, with the whole lower half of the painting running down in long drips. The eyes are amber and level with yours, the nose black and wet. This is the most realistic of my wolf paintings; the other wolf is looser and bluer, and there is an arctic wolf as well. It is a portrait format and one of my most reviewed animal prints.
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
