A white stork in flight, neck stretched forward and red legs trailing, with one wing raised so the black flight feathers fan out against the sky. The body is bare paper with lilac and blue shadows, and behind it are washes of peach, yellow, pink and turquoise with splatter. It is a landscape format. In Bulgaria the stork is the bird that brings spring, and in much of Europe it is the bird that brings babies, so this print is often a gift for a new child.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
