A great grey owl looking straight at you, the huge round facial disc painted in grey and taupe rings with the two small yellow eyes and the white brows between them. The body is brown, grey and teal laid in long strokes that run off the bottom in drips, with peach and yellow washes and red splatter behind. It is a portrait format. It is the tallest owl in the northern forests; the great horned owl and the snowy owl are the ones it is bought with.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
