Sun Bear Art Print, Signed Limited Edition Watercolor

A sun bear walking towards you, the smallest bear there is, with the short black coat, the pale muzzle and the long claws that it uses to open beehives. I painted the coat in violet, plum and teal with magenta and orange blooms around it, the muzzle in soft ochre, and the claws as bare paper. Drips under the paws. It is a portrait format; the boy in the photo is holding the 16 x 20 in size. It sits well with the sloth bear, its other Asian cousin.

Why it is a limited edition

Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
