A North American porcupine seen from the side, the dark face with its small eye and the quills radiating out in hundreds of fine white and brown lines over a wash of gold and ochre. The body is indigo and umber, and the background is a warm yellow that sets the quills off. It is a portrait format. The prehensile-tailed porcupine is the tree-climbing cousin from South America.
The original watercolor painting is listed separately: see the original North American porcupine painting.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
Paper, inks and sizes
- Archival pigment inks on acid-free, museum-quality watercolor paper, so the texture of the original is kept

The frame is not included unless the option says Framed Canvas. Not sure which size fits your wall? Write to me with the width of the furniture under it and I will suggest one. Reproduction rights remain with the artist.
