A silverback looking slightly past you, painted in a portrait format with the head and shoulders filling the sheet. The face is in dark blue-grey with the brow ridge and nostrils drawn in a fine line, and the fur around it is magenta, cobalt and turquoise poured together and left to run down in drips. The eyes are small, brown and thoughtful. It is my most reviewed ape. There is also a western gorilla in a different pose.
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
