A giraffe looks down at you with its lashes first, so the painting is a head and neck seen from below, filling the sheet. The patches are not brown: they are red, orange, violet and blue, each one laid in wet so it blooms into its neighbour, with the whole pattern dripping down the neck. The ossicones and ears are in a darker ink. The expression is patient, slightly amused. It is my most reviewed giraffe and one of the prints people buy in pairs, often with the red panda.
The original watercolor painting is listed separately: see the original giraffe painting.
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
The frame is not included unless the option says Framed Canvas. Not sure which size fits your wall? Write to me with the width of the furniture under it and I will suggest one. Reproduction rights remain with the artist.
