An electric blue Jack Dempsey cichlid in profile, the turquoise body broken by black markings, the spiny dorsal fin raised and the gold eye. The fins are painted in pale blue with yellow at the tail. Yellow, green and lilac washes behind, with dots. It is a landscape format and is bought mostly by people who keep the fish, which is one of the most popular cichlids in the hobby.
The original watercolor painting is listed separately: see the original electric blue Jack Dempsey painting.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
