A donkey listens with its whole head. The ears on this one are turned forward, so I painted them first, in teal with pink inside, and let the rest of the face follow: grey-brown muzzle, soft white nose, a wet eye looking slightly past you. The body is loose washes of turquoise, magenta and ochre that run down the paper in drips, the way a shaggy winter coat hangs. I have painted three donkeys; this is the most reviewed of them and the one most often chosen for kitchens and children’s rooms.
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
The frame is not included unless the option says Framed Canvas. Not sure which size fits your wall? Write to me with the width of the furniture under it and I will suggest one. Reproduction rights remain with the artist.
