A violetear hummingbird is green until the light hits it, then it is violet and electric blue. I kept the shimmer as bare paper and built the body in thin glazes, with the long bill drawn last with a rigger brush. Small prints of it sit on desks and shelves; the large ones surprise people with how much is in a bird the size of a thumb.
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
The frame is not included unless the option says Framed Canvas. Not sure which size fits your wall? Write to me with the width of the furniture under it and I will suggest one. Reproduction rights remain with the artist.

My siblings and I bought this print for our mother’s 75th birthday. Despite coming from Bulgaria during COVID-19, the print arrived framed in just six days after ordering.
My mother loves the print and hung it in a prominent place in her living room. The color is amazing, the painting is gorgeous, and it looks like it could be an original. The black frame was simple but sharp and well-done. It made for a special birthday present from the three of us.
I appreciate the extra (unframed) print that the artist threw in as well, since my mother turned around and gave it to me as an extra gift for my birthday. She knew that I was originally browsing the site for the collection of wildlife prints. I look forward to making future purchases.

I grow Hibiscus, and I have several hummingbirds in my yard, so it was a particularly meaningful watercolor for me.

When I saw this guy, I laughed out loud. He makes me smile! I love his beautiful details in fabulous colors. I just redecorated my master bedroom and it is heavy on the blue side and decided I needed some color and would add it with art. This is going in that room along with some other watercolors to ease some of the impact of blue. I love him. He needs matting and framing and then will be hung with 3 other watercolors, one of which was also purchased here. This artist does beautiful work and I would definitely buy from her again because I like her style.

This artist does beautiful work. I love her use of water in her watercolors. It relaxes the hard lines when she uses drops of water to let the colors meld together. I couldn’t be happier and now it needs to be matted and framed. I would not hesitate to buy from this shop again!
