Two ruby-throated hummingbirds hovering at a spike of magenta flowers, the male on the left with the red throat and the green back, the female on the right in green and white, both painted feather by feather with the wings blurred. The flowers are in bright pink with green leaves and there are dots of orange and turquoise around them. It is a landscape format and the hummingbird of the eastern United States; the rufous is the western one.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.

I love this humming bird watercolor. The colors are so vibrant. It was easy to frame and looks great hanging on my wall.
