A reindeer head in profile, looking left, with the antlers reaching to the top of the sheet in teal, gold and black and dripping as if the velvet were wet. The face is cream and brown with teal in the shadows and a touch of pink on the cheek, and the neck is a mass of teal and ochre with fine splatter. It is a portrait format; the boy in the photo is holding the 16 x 20 in size. It is bought all year in Scandinavia and at Christmas everywhere else.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
