A peregrine falcon in flight, seen from below as it banks, one wing raised to the top of the sheet and the other pointing down, the barred breast and underwing drawn feather by feather and the yellow feet tucked. The wings are washed in turquoise, lilac and slate. It is a portrait format. The peregrine is the fastest animal alive in a dive. The peregrine falcon portrait is the head study.
The original watercolor painting is listed separately: see the original peregrine falcon in flight painting.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
