A brown bear’s head is wide and its eyes are small, which makes it look thoughtful. I painted this one in umber and sienna with the fur lifted out of a wet wash, and the background a single pale green. On the shirt the painting keeps its soft edges and the white of the paper around it.
How the shirt is made
- Printed in my own studio on an Epson direct-to-garment printer, with water-based inks that bond with the cotton. The print is soft to the touch, not a plastic layer.
