Binturong Art Print, Signed Limited Edition Watercolor

The binturong, or bearcat, is a shaggy tree-climbing animal from Southeast Asia that smells of popcorn and looks like no other creature. I painted the face head-on, the two round ears with white tufts, the brown eyes and the white whiskers, in violet, cobalt and indigo poured together wet, with the coat running down in long drips. Splatter around it. It is a portrait format; the boy in the photo is holding the 16 x 20 in size.

Why it is a limited edition

Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.

• Small sizes ship flat in rigid cardboard, large sizes rolled in a hard tube, worldwide with tracking
