A silver tabby American Shorthair looking at you with two yellow-green eyes, the classic swirled stripes painted in slate, indigo and grey over a pale coat, with pink inside the ears and on the nose. The whiskers are fine white lines and there are a few blue and orange dots above the head. It is a portrait format and one of the most naturalistic of my cats. The Exotic Shorthair is its flat-faced cousin.
The original watercolor painting is listed separately: see the original American Shorthair cat painting.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
