Three orange lilies with two green buds on one stem, painted in orange, coral and vermilion with the stamens in brown and the petals laid wet so the colour pools, against pink and yellow washes with a few dots. The leaves and stem are in green and lime. It is a portrait format and one of my brightest botanical prints, often chosen for a kitchen or a hallway. The king protea and the leucadendron are its companions.
The original watercolor painting is listed separately: see the original orange lilies painting.
Why it is a limited edition
Each print is made in an edition of 150, and I sign and number every copy in pencil under the image. The edition is small so that every copy can be made properly: the file is scanned from the painting itself, printed on museum-quality cotton paper with archival pigment inks, compared with the original in daylight and corrected until the colours match, and only then signed. When the last copy is sold, the edition closes for good.
